Vietnam's Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has called for stronger cooperation with the Republic of Korea (RoK) in infrastructure, renewable energy, shipbuilding and high-quality human resource development, while reaffirming the shared goal of raising bilateral trade to $150 billion by 2030.

The proposal was made during a meeting in Hanoi on July 30 with Kim Yun Duk, the RoK’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

The Vietnamese leader reaffirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to its relationship with the RoK and is committed to further strengthening the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across a wide range of areas, including politics, trade, investment, science and technology, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

Commending the close cooperation between Vietnam's Ministry of Construction and South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Vietnamese leader encouraged the two ministries to expand exchanges of expertise and promote practical collaboration in infrastructure development, renewable energy, shipbuilding technology and the training of high-quality human resources, as these sectors have been identified as key priorities in Vietnam's long-term development strategy.

Minister Kim Yun Duk reaffirmed the RoK’s readiness to share its expertise in areas where it has strong capabilities and Vietnam has growing demand. He also pledged that South Korea would remain a trusted partner in supporting Vietnam's economic and development goals in the years ahead.
