Vietnam's aviation sector continued to expand, with both passenger traffic and cargo volumes recording year-on-year growth in the first seven months of the year, reflecting sustained recovery in domestic and international air travel.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), more than 76 million passengers passed through airports nationwide during the seven-month period, up 7% compared with the same period last year. International passenger traffic reached nearly 30 million, rising over 11%, while domestic travel exceeded 46 million passengers, up more than 4%.

Cargo transported by Vietnamese airlines totaled nearly 267,000 tons during the period, representing a 0.4% increase from a year earlier.

Vietnamese carriers transported nearly 35 million passengers in the first seven months, an increase of more than 3% year-on-year. Of the total, international passengers exceeded 11 million, up 1%, while domestic passengers topped 23 million, growing by more than 4%.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam expects the market to maintain its growth trajectory through the remainder of the year. For 2026, the authority targets handling approximately 94 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo, representing year-on-year increases of 13% and 9.3%, respectively.
