Vietnam has 875 social housing projects under development to date, with a combined scale of 773,457 units and total investment of approximately VND637.02 trillion ($24.2 billion), according to the Ministry of Construction.
Of these, 289 projects have been completed, providing 197,805 units with total investment of VND162.91 trillion. Another 270 projects, comprising 270,409 units and requiring VND222.71 trillion in investment, have broken ground and are under construction.
Meanwhile, 316 projects totaling 305,243 units, with investment of VND251.94 trillion, have received approval in principle.
The ministry said the number of projects completed, under construction or approved in principle has reached 77% of the target set under the government’s plan to develop one million social housing units.
Regarding rental housing, the country currently has 205,074 rental units classified as public assets, including 13,450 social housing units.
