Alongside building an innovative startup ecosystem through regional connectivity, southern Tay Ninh Province has identified Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as two strategic technological pillars for priority investment through 2030, reported Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
Speaking at the "Tay Ninh Innovative Startup Ecosystem Development Forum - Promoting Southern Startup Links" held on July 15, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Van Han, affirmed that science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation will be the key drivers for the province's economic breakthrough in the coming period.
Regarding UAVs, the province is drafting a Strategy to Develop the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Ecosystem for 2026–2030, with a vision toward 2035. The goal is to position Tay Ninh as a Southern regional hub for testing, training, certification, application, and the development of UAV auxiliary industries.
According to Mr. Han, this direction capitalizes on the synergy with nearby Ho Chi Minh City. While HCM City possesses strengths in research and technological development, Tay Ninh offers ample land and field space favorable for testing, training, and practical application. This connection is expected to create new value chains and growth momentum for the entire region.
This high-tech orientation is built upon a foundation of positive economic performance. In the first six months of 2026, Tay Ninh's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is estimated to have grown by 10.12%, exceeding initial projections. This growth rate ranks the province 8th among 34 provinces and cities nationwide and first in the Southern region.
Investment attraction remains a highlight. The province granted licenses to 70 new domestic investment projects with a total capital of approximately VND36.6 trillion (nearly $1.4 billion), and 70 FDI projects with total new and adjusted registered capital exceeding $2.2 billion. To date, Tay Ninh has cumulatively attracted over 3,100 domestic projects totaling VND757 trillion ($28.8 billion) and 2,051 FDI projects with total registered capital of over $27.6 billion.
