The Vietnam International Fisheries Exhibition (Vietfish 2026), themed “Innovation and Sustainability,” opened on August 19 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Organized by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the three-day exhibition covers more than 14,000 square meters and features 568 booths from 335 domestic and international companies from 18 countries and territories.

The event is expected to attract more than 13,000 trade and international visitors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang said the theme reflects major changes in both the seafood industry and the global economy. International trade is evolving rapidly, while markets are imposing increasingly stringent requirements on product quality, food safety, traceability, environmental standards and social responsibility.

She said the exhibition provides Vietnam with an opportunity to enhance the value and position of its seafood sector in global value chains. Vietnam hopes international partners will continue to cooperate in aquaculture technology, breeding, deep processing, preservation, logistics, traceability, digital transformation, the circular economy and emissions reduction.

Vietnam’s seafood exports have maintained strong growth this year. In the first seven months of 2026, seafood export revenue reached nearly $6.9 billion, up 12.8% year on year.
