A delegation from Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) of Thailand, led by Chairman Soopakij Chearavanont, recently visited Vietnam as the group seeks to expand its long-term investment and strengthen its role in the country's agricultural and food industry.

According to Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, CP Group aims to continue investing in Vietnam and support the development of modern agriculture, digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), while building a more sustainable agriculture-to-food value chain.

Sharing details of CP Group's investment plans, Mr. Montri Suwanposri, a member of the Board of Directors of CPF and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of C.P. Vietnam Livestock Corporation, said deep processing and exports would be key priorities in the group's strategy.

CP Group plans to invest an additional $200 million to expand the capacity of the CPV Food Binh Phuoc poultry production and meat processing complex in Vietnam's southern Dong Nai city. The facility currently processes around one million chickens per week for export, with a new investment expected to double its capacity to two million chickens per week.

In northern Vietnam, CP Group plans to invest approximately $300 million in a new processing plant in Phu Tho province, with a capacity of one million chickens per week. The project is expected to strengthen processing capacity, expand product supply and increase the export value of Vietnam's agriculture and food sector.

In the pork processing sector, C.P. Vietnam has put five slaughterhouses into operation nationwide. The company plans to invest a further $100 million to complete a clean pork slaughtering chain that meets both domestic and international standards.

The planned investments underscore CP Group's strategy of developing an integrated production and processing ecosystem in Vietnam while increasing the country's role as a regional food production and export base.
