With a total investment of over VND5 trillion ($192 million), the Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is set to become one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most significant infrastructure projects, scheduled for groundbreaking on Vietnam's National Day, September 2.
The initiative is expected to drive urban and economic growth while serving as a landmark of the city's commitment to sustainable development.
By connecting the city's Southern region with the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, the bridge will provide essential connectivity between these two vital regions.
Spanning 2.16 km with an eight-lane design, the project is specifically intended to alleviate heavy traffic pressure on existing corridors such as Ton Duc Thang Street, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, and the Khanh Hoi Bridge. The bridge is designed with a cross-section of eight lanes, consisting of six motor vehicle lanes and two mixed-traffic lanes.
A notable feature of this project is that it is funded entirely through the city budget, reflecting the municipal government's strong commitment to modernizing its transport infrastructure.
The project also encompasses a nearly VND1.4 trillion (more than $52 million) budget dedicated to the compensation, support, and resettlement of 136 affected households. Site clearance is projected for completion in 2026, paving the way for construction to begin by the end of the year and for the bridge to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2028.
