With a shared goal of becoming leading AI hubs in the ASEAN region, Vietnam and Taiwan (China) are assuming increasingly strategic roles. This partnership leverages Taiwan (China)’s advanced semiconductor integration alongside Vietnam’s rapid digital transformation and the synergy between their two innovative startup ecosystems.

This vision was shared by Mr. Hank Han, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, during the "Vietnam Taiwan (China) Tech Solution Day 2026" forum held in the city on July 30.

A key highlight of the event was the announcement of commercial validation metrics for pioneering Taiwanese AI projects deployed on Vietnam’s FPT Smart Cloud – AI Factory infrastructure.

The most prominent examples included three of the 14 participating startups: TAC Dynamics, GitHouse, and Chimes AI. These companies showcased AI applications in logistics, business operations, and smart manufacturing, illustrating a growing trend in cross-border tech collaboration. This milestone demonstrates the enhanced technological adaptability and implementation capacity of Vietnamese enterprises.

This year’s forum focused on connecting Taiwanese startups with the Vietnamese market, creating a platform for businesses and investment funds to meet and explore partnerships. Featuring experts in AI, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation, the event opened new doors for Vietnamese companies to integrate AI into their core business operations.

Beyond networking, the event served as a catalyst for deep cooperation. A standout example is the partnership between Horizon AI (Taiwan, China) and SotaTek (Vietnam). The two firms are co-developing technological products, conducting joint research, and manufacturing solutions to participate in the global value chain.

During a panel discussion, a representative from Horizon AI emphasized that a successful Proof of Concept (PoC) is built on two pillars: thorough preparation of requirements and a high-performing execution team. "Instead of rushing in without clear goals, the most effective strategy is to start with a small, manageable scope to prove real-world value before considering scaling," the representative noted.

Vietnam Taiwan (China) Tech Solution Day 2026 also underscored the vital importance of capital and human resources in AI development. Discussions centered on strategies to convert pilot tests into formal enterprise contracts and methods for building cross-border teams. Experts agreed that these factors are essential for AI to transition from experimental stages to generating genuine commercial value.
