Samsung Electronics inaugrates rooftop solar power project in HCM City

Samsung Electronics inaugurated a rooftop solar power project with a capacity of nearly 28 MWp at its Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) manufacturing facility in Ho Chi Minh City's High-Tech Park on July 3.

The system comprises nearly 45,000 solar panels installed across the factory's rooftops, along with equipment meeting international technical standards.

According to Samsung, it is the first rooftop solar project in Vietnam to operate under the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanism through a dedicated transmission line, in accordance with Government Decree No. 57/2025/ND-CP.

Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate more than 40,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by over 26,000 tons of CO2 each year while increasing the share of renewable energy used in Samsung's manufacturing operations.

Samsung said the project will provide a foundation for expanding its renewable energy initiatives, supporting the group's global sustainability strategy while contributing to Vietnam's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.
